ExtrabiomesXL is a mod created by ScottKillen, MisterFiber and TDWP_FTW, later maintained by the ExtrabiomesXL Development Team that adds 28 new biomes to Minecraft and creates much more biome diversity than in Vanilla Minecraft. This mod includes several new biomes, trees, blocks, and items to enhance gameplay and create more exploration.

Important Note: Adding ExtrabiomesXL to Minecraft has one major con: Vanilla biomes become much more uncommon thus harder to find. To increase the probability of Vanilla biomes, a config file for ExtrabiomesXL allows certain biomes to be disabled. Whether or not NPC Villages spawn in certain biomes is also configurable.

Installing this mod also causes NPC Villages to generate in every biome in Minecraft although they seem to generate in more flatter regions over mountainous regions. As stated above village generation can be disabled for specific biomes via the ExtrabiomesXL config file.

ExtrabiomesXL was featured in FTB official 1.4.7 modpacks, however, it has been replaced mainly by Biomes O' Plenty in the FTB official 1.6.4 modpacks and above. It is not planned to be featured in any future FTB official modpacks though it can still be found in certain third-party modpacks.
