Beetle Larvae are a passive mob added by The Erebus. It is found in the green places of the Erebus dimension, and has 8 () health points. It is a good source of food for early adventurers.
Jumping on the larva causes it to burst and die. Beetle Larvae dying in this manner will drop a Slimeball and inflict the mcw:Status effect#Nausea on the player for 6 seconds. Stomping on larvae also gives a rare chance of a Diamond dropping.
Killing the beetle without squashing it will drop 1 Beetle Larva food item, which the player can consume to restore 1 () health point.
Beetle Larvae will consume any wood they find, breaking it slowly first; each time they consume wood they grow a little larger. if this happens 8 times the Beetle Larva will mature into a Beetle.

The Beetle Larva was originally named "Maggot", and was one of the very first mobs added to The Erebus.
As of 0.1.2, Beetle Larva can be obtained as the offspring of 2 beetles.
There are config options to make it also eat wooden tile entities (chests), and Apocalypse which makes it eat anything.
