Copper Ore can be found in the overworld at the y-levels between 0 and 80. Approximately 10 ore veins can be found per chunk. As of version 0.27.0, if enabled in the configuration file, it can be found in the Nether, the End, and as of version 0.28.0 a configurable set of dimensions as well. It has the same spawn rates in these dimensions, except in the End and Nether it is found below Y level 128. |

Copper Ore can be found in the overworld between y levels 40 and 86, and from 20 to 55 in oceans. It's max vein per chunk is 2 and has a cluster size of 18, while in the desert it generates a max of 4 veins per chunk and has a cluster size of 15, making it slightly more prevelant.
It is often used in pipes and fluid storage. It can be mixed with Zinc to create Brass.

Copper can be used to create a Storage Block, Thin Plate, and Nugget.
Copper Ore generation is completely configurable using JSON. It allows for configuration of minimum and maximum Y values, maximum veins per chunk, which blocks to replace in the world, the dimension, and biome to generate in according to the values.
By default:
- Extreme Hills, Extreme Hills Edge, and Extreme Hills with Trees between Y levels 80 and 128, with a maximum of 5 veins per chunk. It can replace stones, dirts, grasses, sands, sandstones, and gravels.
- Hell between Y levels 0 and 128, with a maximum of 10 veins per chunk. It can replace netherracks.
- Sky between Y levels 0 and 128, with a maximum of 10 veins per chunk. It can replace endstones.

It can be used to create a Storage Block, Plate, and Nugget. Storage Blocks and Nuggets are created the same way as any other. Plates must be created by putting Copper Ingots into a heated Crucible, at which point the molten metal should be poured into a Mold with a Plate Mold. Six nuggets are used in the creation of a Copper Plate, which makes it unable to be used in other mod's recipes requiring their own Copper Plates.

Small copper ore spawns at a height of 60 to 120 with a relative frequency of 32 in the overworld, the nether, and the end. Regular copper ore spawns as large deposits of Tetrahedrite and Chalcopyrite, and as a trace mineral in Limonite deposits. See GregTech's Ore Mixes for height ranges and other details.
GregTech 6

Copper has a melting point of 1357K and a boiling point of 2835K, along with a density of 8.96 grams per cubic centimeter. It can be obtained by smelting Chalcopyrite, Tetrahedrite, or Malachite, or as a byproduct of ore processing for Malachite or Gold. Processing Copper Ore results in Cobalt, Gold, Nickel, and Cobalt-60 as byproducts. When heated to 2800K in a Crucible, Copper turns into Annealed Copper. Copper can be combined into various alloys, including Sterling Silver, Rose Gold, Brass, Bronze, Black Bronze, Red Alloy, Signalum, and Cupronickel.

Config options
In the "ProjectRed.cfg" configuration file (in the "config" folder), the generation of Copper Ore can be disabled, and the generation can be reduced by increasing the resistance value. Furtermore, the enabling of the retro generation allows to generate the ore in an old world, which was started without Project Red.
