The Demon Heart is an item added by Witchery. This item is obtained by either bargaining with a Demon or by slaying one. Eating a Demon Heart will cause a lot of effects: Hunger II, Speed III, Health Boost (adds 20 (
) temporary health points), Strength III, Nausea, Regeneration II, and Fire Resistance III for about 2 minutes. Additionally, it will set the player on fire. This item is the main ingredient in the Infernal Infusion, and many other evil witchcraft rituals. It can be distilled with a Netherrack to create Soul Sand. A Demon Heart can be used to buff a Treefyd's health to 150 ( × 75), and its damage output to 8 () points of damage. Demon Hearts can be placed in the world by sneak+using them on a block. When placed near a Pool of Flowing Spirit and a Dream Weaver of Nightmares, and with a Brew of Sleeping used, the player may enter a Demonic Nightmare.
Demon Hearts can be used to increase the chance that the player experiences a nightmare when entering the Spirit World. Placing Demon Hearts within an 8 block radius (including on the y-axis) of the player will increase the chance by 35% each, at a maximum of two Demon Hearts (70%).
