The Shell Storage is an item added by Sync and is used to store shells. The Shell Storage requires a constant redstone signal and if enabled in the config file (sync.cfg), a constant source of power such as Redstone Flux (RF) or Piggawatts. A small red light on its floor means it is inactive; a green light means it is active.
If a Shell Storage is holding a shell and any of these requirements are no longer met, the Shell Storage will deactivate and the shell will be lost, along with any items it had in its inventory. Unless it is disabled in the config, on death the player will be transferred to their nearest shell provided it is in a Shell Storage. This functionality can be used for extra lives in a hardcore world.
