Flux (Thaumcraft 4)
- This page is about the Flux added by Thaumcraft 4. For other uses, see .
Flux is a phenomenon added by Thaumcraft 4. It appears when Essentia is mishandled or as a byproduct in Infusion Altar rituals. It comes in two variants: Flux Goo and Flux Gas. Flux Goo usually appears when a Crucible holds too much Essentia, when an item in an Infusion Altar ritual dissolves, a player suffering from Thaumarrhea, and boxed in by Crusted Taint in Tainted Lands biomes. Flux Gas usually appears when a Crucible is emptied, different types of Essentia are colliding through Essentia Tube networks, and when items in an Infusion Altar ritual dissolves.
Coming into contact with a Flux block usually results in the player being afflicted with Flux Flu or its contagious variant, Flux Phage. Both incur Vis penalties, with higher levels being proportional to the penalty.
The most basic method to remove Flux Goo is to place a block (e.g., Dirt or Cobblestone) on top of the one it is on. Flux Gas will rise into the atmosphere, so it is best to perform infusions or have Essentia Tube networks exposed to the sky. With sufficient research players can charge a Flux Scrubber with an Energized Node to automatically consume Flux blocks. Some addons such as Forbidden Magic and Thaumic Bases add items such as the Shovel of the Purifier and Wand Focus: Flux Scrubber respectively to dispose of Flux.
