The Greenhouse is a multiblock structure added by Forestry. It is used to adjust the locally available environment of any Apiaries or Bee Houses inside the Greenhouse to one more suitable for Bees to operate by increasing/decreasing the local temperature or humidity. Additionally, Apiaries and Bee Houses inside a Greenhouse can continue to operate during Rain.

Construction[]

Greenhouse Multiblock

The initial Greenhouse structure must be constructed as a solid cuboid of Greenhouse Blocks that is between 3x2x3 and 5x5x5 in dimensions, with one Greenhouse Energy Distributor anywhere on the outside bottom layer of the main multiblock. After creating the initial structure, it will need a roof at least 2 blocks above (up to a maximum of 11), and walls up to 5 blocks from the multiblock. The top center Greenhouse Block will change from red to green when the outside structure is suitable. The outside walls can be created by the player's choice of solid block (or Glass); this structure just needs to cover the top and sides of the main Greenhouse multiblock. The bottom can be soil. The Greenhouse Control and Greenhouse Screen can be installed adjacent to the Greenhouse Energy Distributor to gain additional control over the multiblock. The sides and roof of the Greenhouse can be decorated with Greenhouse Windows and Greenhouse Roof Windows to modify temperature and humidity at a lower energy cost.

Legacy[]

The Greenhouse must be constructed as a hollow 1-block-thick shell of at least 5x5x5 size. The outer shell must be comprised entirely of Greenhouse blocks, usually Greenhouse Block or Greenhouse Glass. A Greenhouse Door allows the player to enter the Greenhouse.

GUI[]

Right-clicking a placed Greenhouse Block will show in-game tool-tips about the creation of the multiblock. Right-clicking on any block of the completed Greenhouse will display a GUI that allows the player to restyle the Greenhouse using other blocks view the current Climate and energy (Redstone Flux) usage.

Camouflage and decoration[]

  • The top-left slot of the internal structure accepts a solid block to re-texture the main multiblock.
  • Each climate-changing device has a camouflage slot which accepts a block to re-texture itself.
  • Any solid block is accepted for re-texturing.

Legacy[]

Right clicking on any block of the completed Greenhouse will display a GUI that allows the player to restyle the Greenhouse using other blocks, manually add water, and monitor the Water level, current Climate and Energy (Redstone Flux) usage.

Camouflage and decoration[]

  • The top left slot will accept a "Solid" Block as a Default Camouflage block to retexture any of the Greenhouse Brick blocks.
  • The middle left slot will accept any "Glass" Block as a Default Camouflage block to retexture any of the Greenhouse Glass blocks in the structure.
  • The middle right slot accepts a Solid or Glass block to retexture the block that was clicked to bring up the GUI.
  • The bottom left slot accepts any "Door" block and will retexture the Greenhouse door(s) to match.

Additionally the sides and roof of the Greenhouse can be decorated with Greenhouse Window and Greenhouse Roof Window.

Climate[]

  • There must be a powered Greenhouse Energy Distributor on the outside bottom layer of the main multiblock for climate-changing devices to work.
  • A climate-changing device can be placed anywhere on the outside wall surrounding the multiblock.
  • Greenhouse Heaters allow the Greenhouse to increase in temperature.
  • Greenhouse Fans allow the Greenhouse to decrease in temperature.
  • Greenhouse Humidifier allow the Greenhouse the increase humidity.
  • Greenhouse Dehumidifiers allow the Greenhouse to decrease humidity.
  • Greenhouse Windows and Greenhouse Roof Windows can also modify temperature and humidity.

Each device has a slot for circuit boards which can augment the effectiveness of that block.

Additional climate-changing devices may be required to reach the climate target more efficiently.

Increasing Humidity[]

To increase Humidity inside the Greenhouse Water must be piped into the Greenhouse using a Greenhouse Valve, and 1 or more Greenhouse Sprinklers must be used on the roof. One sprinkler will bring the Greenhouse to 199% Humidity.

Decreasing Humidity and controlling Temperature[]

To decrease humidity as well as control the Temperature inside the Greenhouse a Greenhouse Gearbox must be installed so that RF can be provided. One (or more) Greenhouse Dryer, Greenhouse Heater or Greenhouse Fan must be included in the build.

Additional information[]

  • Currently the Greenhouse Hygroregulator appears unused.
  • The Greenhouse Windows and Greenhouse Roof Window appear to have limited affect on the climate.
  • The Greenhouse Control block needs redstone dust placed on the ground to work; a Lever placed on it does not seem to work.
  • Greenhouses may overshoot their climate targets if they are built very close to each other.
