The Iron Gates are items added by BuildCraft to control and/or interact with all pipes of BuildCraft via one configurable function (see Usage). The next tier is the Gold Gate with four configurable functions. The gate has an AND and OR version plus a Clock Timer, Redstone Fader, Light Sensor and Autarchic design.
Recipe[edit | edit source]
The player can choose the desired mode (AND or OR) if he has placed all needed resources in the Assembly Table, and the chosen one is produced.
Usage[edit | edit source]
The Iron Gate can be placed on all types and sides of the BuildCraft pipes with a right-click. By holding the crouch-key and right-clicking the gate can be removed without destroying the pipe.
Note: The basic function is that the gate checks the precondition in the right slot, and, if this precondition is true, executes the option in the left slot. The difference between the AND and the OR version is when it will trigger an action. Both will trigger if one precondition is true, but if the AND version is used, and two or more conditions are set to trigger the same action, the action will only trigger when both preconditions are True. If the OR version is used and two or more preconditions are set to the same action, the action will trigger when either of the preconditions is True.
With a right-click the player can open the GUI, which has four slots (two left, two right). All slots can be configured by clicking in it. The possible options depends on the pipe where the gate was mounted:
- All options like the standard Gate (goto)
- Furthermore the Iron Gate has the ability to interact with Blue Pipe Wire (in addition to Red Pipe Wire) to transmit and/or receive redstone signals over the BuildCraft own wire system. An example with a Diamond AND Gate is shown in the picture, but it is the same except that the Iron Gate can only interact with the Red and Blue Pipe Wire. In the GUI the corresponding option is selectable if a pipe wire is connected to the gate (see below)

Following options are additional available for all types (kinesis, fluid, transport) if Pipe Wire is connected to the gate:
