Each Karate Zombie spawns containing between 5 and 28 spirits, which will leave its body on death. These spirits can be picked up by players with Glass Bottles, which will turn into Bottles of Japanese Ancestry, or by other Karate Zombies. Karate Zombies get stronger the more spirits they hold, increasing their attack damage, health and armor, as well as unlocking various moves and changing the color of their belt. The belt is colored white, yellow, green, blue, brown and black at 0-7, 8-15, 16-23, 24-31, 32-39 and 40+ spirits, respectively. A single Karate Zombie can hold up to 128 spirits.
On death it drops the same items as a Zombie, on top of releasing all spirits it holds.
Behavior[edit | edit source]
When attacking, it randomly alternates between various moves, changing every few seconds or after landing one. The more spirits it holds the more attacks it has access to. The current move can be determined by the position of its arms.
Below 16 spirits (white and yellow belt) it only has a normal melee attack, dealing damage on contact.
At 16 spirits and more (green belt and above), it gains the Throw move. Upon landing a hit in this state it will pick up its target and shortly after launch it away, dealing 2 () damage on top of the initial hit.
At 32 spirits and above (brown belt and above), it gains the Suplex move. Just like the Throw move it will pick up its target after landing a melee hit, and shotly after jumps in the air. Upon landing its target is dismounted and takes the falling damage, which the Karate Zombie does not take.
At 48 spirits and above (black belt), it gains the Disarm move. It will assume a defensive state and not attack for a short period of time. If it is attacked with a melee attack in this state, it will cause its target to drop both its main hand and off hand items. This has no effect if either of those items is a Shield.
