The Owl is a creature added by Witchery. This creature is neutral when initially spawned, but will become friendly when tamed. If a Baba Yaga spawns Owls, they will be hostile. The Owl is a very timid creature, and moving towards it may make it fly away. It can be attracted and tamed with Raw Porkchop or Raw Beef. A tamed owl can be healed with these same meats. Right-clicking a tamed owl will make it begin sitting or flying, depending on what its previous state was. Two tamed owls can breed if they are at full health and a Raw Porkchop or Raw Beef is fed to them. Tamed Owls can also be dyed by using any dye on them. The Rite of Binding can turn an Owl into a Familiar. Owls have 10 () health points, unless they become a Familiar. An Owl Familiar will have 50 ( × 25) health points. When slain, Owls may drop feathers and Owlet's Wings.
Giving an Owl a brew or splash potion will make them use it, rather than just dropping it.
Creation[edit | edit source]
The player will need:
- a Water source block
- 4 Bats
- a Wolf
- a charged
Owls are created through bat/wolf mutation. First, four Bats must be trapped with Critter Snares. Then, these Critter Snares must be placed on each four sides of a 1x1 water pool. On top of the water pool must be a cobweb, with a Wolf trapped in it. Then, four Grasspers must be placed on the blocks diagonally away from the water block, or next to the Snares. There must be one charged Attuned Stone in a Grassper, then in the other three must be Mutandis Extremis. Finally, use a Mutating Sprig on the Cobweb. The Cobweb, mobs, and items in the Grasspers will be consumed.
