The Pulverizer is a machine added by Thermal Expansion 5. It is used to turn a block of ore into two of its respective Dusts. The Dusts can then be smelted in any type of Furnace to produce Ingots at a 1:1 ratio. It has a chance of giving a secondary output, which varies between ores.

The Pulverizer has one input (blue), a primary output (red) and a secondary output (yellow). These can be changed to different faces using the Configuration menu in the machine's GUI. It is possible to use two faces of the machine for the same output, or have primary and secondary products output to the same face (orange).

Recipe

Usage

The Pulverizer's purpose is to convert solid items into crushed products. Most operations also have a likelihood of producing a secondary output. Each ore processing operation takes 4000 RF. Non-ore processing takes a widely varying amount of RF, largely dependent on the hardness of the material being pulverized.

The Pulverizer is able to double ores by grinding an ore block into two dusts, which can be smelted into an ingot each. Pulverizing ores also creates useful secondary products, including the dusts of rare minerals and Cinnabar. Pulverizing ingots will produce a single pile of dust.

It is also able to increase the yield of other operations, making bones, blaze rods, and other similar items create more meal or powder than if they were handcrafted into their products. Specialized ingredients such as Pulverized Obsidian and Pulverized Coal are also made in the Pulverizer.

Basic building blocks can also be pulverized. Stone can be ground into Cobblestone, Cobblestone into Gravel, and Gravel into Sand. Sandstone can also be processed into Sand. Processing Gravel has a 15% chance to yield Flint as a secondary product, and processing Sandstone has a 40% chance to produce Niter. Netherrack is ground into Gravel, but is a good way to obtain Sulfur at a 15% chance.

A large amount of other items can be pulverized. Tools, armor, and furniture can be recycled for materials, as well as Fluxducts and Fluiducts. Various other building blocks can be recycled into their components as well.

Augmentation

A Pulverizer can accept the following Augments:

Image Name Type Description

Auxiliary Reception Coil Augment Increases max power usage (speed) at the cost of higher power use per operation. Stackable. Multiplies max power usage by 1+n, where n is the amount of coils installed, and increases power use per operation by 10% per coil.

Auxiliary Sieve Augment Increases the chances of producing a secondary product at the cost of higher power use per operation. Stackable. One sieve multiplies the chance by 1.18x, increasing up to a maximum of a 20x multiplier at 7 sieves installed. Each sieve increases power used per operation by 10%.

Nullification Chamber Augment Destroys secondary products when the secondary output slot is full. This allows the machine to keep working despite a full secondary slot.

Tectonic Initiator Specialization Produces 1.5 times the amount of product when processing ores. This costs 100mB of Tectonic Petrotheum per operation, and the Pulverizer consumes 50% more power per operation. This augment also gives the Pulverizer a 4-bucket internal tank that can be input into from any side.

Upgrading

A Pulverizer is crafted at the lowest tier (Basic). It can be upgraded to higher tiers using Upgrade Kits. As it is upgraded it is able to use more RF per tick, which allows it to process items faster. Upgrading also adds augment slots, and increases the input and output rate of items and fluids.
