Redstone Furnace (Thermal Expansion 5)
- This page is about the Redstone Furnace added by Thermal Expansion 5. For other uses, see .
|Redstone Furnace (Basic)|
|Mod||Thermal Expansion 5|
|RF use||20 RF/t|
The Redstone Furnace is a machine added by Thermal Expansion 5. It functions identically to a Furnace, but consumes Redstone Flux (RF) instead of burning solid fuels like Coal. It smelts items such as foods and dusts faster than a vanilla Furnace.
The Redstone Furnace has one input (blue) and one output (orange). These can be changed to different faces using the Configuration menu in the machine's GUI.
Recipe[edit | edit source]
Uses[edit | edit source]
Most smelting recipes can be performed in the Redstone Furnace for 2000 RF. Smelting dusts uses 1500 RF, and cooking food or making Cactus Green uses only 1000 RF, making it more efficient to use a Redstone Furnace for these purposes. Additionally, the Redstone Furnace can be used for unique recipes:
Augmentation[edit | edit source]
A Redstone Furnace can accept the following Augments:
|Auxiliary Reception Coil||Augment||Increases max power usage (speed) at the cost of higher power use per operation. Stackable. Multiplies max power usage by 1+n, and increases power use per operation by (10n)%, where n is the amount of coils installed.|
|Trivection Chamber||Specialization||Produces 1.5 times the amount of product when cooking food. The amount of product is rounded down but is always at least 2. The furnace can only cook food, and consumes 50% more power per operation.|
|Flux Anodizers||Specialization||Produces 1.5 times the amount of product when processing ores. The amount of product is rounded down but is always at least 2. The furnace can only process ores, and consumes 50% more power per operation.|
|Pyrolytic Conversion||Specialization||Allows the furnace to process Coal into Coal Coke and other organic material into Charcoal, producing Creosote Oil as a byproduct. The furnace loses the ability to perform normal smelting operations, and max power usage (speed) is decreased by a factor of 10. The furnace also consumes 50% more power per operation. This augment also gives the furnace a 4-bucket internal tank that can be configured to output on any side, sharing the color of the item output (orange).|
Upgrading[edit | edit source]
A Redstone Furnace is crafted at the lowest tier (Basic). It can be upgraded to higher tiers using Upgrade Kits. As it is upgraded it is able to use more RF per tick, which allows it to process items faster. Upgrading also adds augment slots, and increases the input and output rate of items and fluids.
To upgrade a Redstone Furnace, you can use both Upgrade Kits and Conversion Kits.
To upgrade using an Upgrade Kit, right click the furnace with the upgrade kit. Upgrade kits must be applied sequentially (Basic, Hardened, Reinforced, Signalum, then Resonant).
Conversion kits are used for upgrading Redstone Furnaces nonsequentially. If you want to jump from a Redstone Furnace to a Resonant Redstone Furnace instantly, you apply a Resonant Conversion Kit rather than sequentially applying Upgrade Kits.
|Tier||Max Power Usage||Power Storage||Augments|
|Basic||20 RF/t||20,000 RF||0|
|Hardened||30 RF/t||30,000 RF||1|
|Reinforced||40 RF/t||40,000 RF||2|
|Signalum||50 RF/t||50,000 RF||3|
|Resonant||60 RF/t||60,000 RF||4|
