Wow. This topic is out of date. We need coverage of the Greenhouse, tree breeding, multifarms and so on. I'm going to see if I can write up some stuff (as a consequence of me looking at it while playing through AoE for 1.10). It seems i'll have ample time to write up while waiting for bees to breed. Forestry, bees in particular, used to be a major project on this wiki way back in the Jadedcat days. Unfortunately it's received very few updates since that ancient age, so your help would be certainly appreciated :P -Xbony2 (talk) 12:50, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
What can I say...I've been away for a while. Not played MC for a while and I never played with the Bees, just the Farms. Now there is a green house, so going to have to look at that and to see if Butterflies where developed further. --StormSentinel (talk) 14:14, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
Looking quickly, as I'm at work, the Multi Farm pages I've written are still up to date and relevant. I can't see any information on the Greenhouse other than its a multi block structure for controlling the environment for Bees. --StormSentinel (talk) 14:25, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
O hey, welcome back. since you're here :o -Xbony2 (talk) 14:43, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
Hey There. You wrote the "Guide" pages for the multiblock treefarm?GreenZombie76 (talk) 10:49, 27 August 2017 (UTC)

I don't know how to properly edit the expanding link blocks at the bottom of the page or the proper ... etiquette for uploading images if I don't know they already exist. Also, I know for Thaumcraft we just had entirely different topics for each version. Forestry has not undergone as much change as Thaumcraft however there are still version changes to consider: The Greenhouse multiblock seems to have been added recently and its unclear if its even complete. The official wiki's own page is blank. The Beealyzer, Treealyzer and Flutterlyzer have all been merged into a single "Portable Analyzer". This wiki (And the official wiki) have no pages, or images, or links in the expando bars for the pollens, larva and cocoons that the mod adds (Possibly because no one even knows how to gather them). Is there a precedent for documenting Village gen? Forestry adds a Apiarist or Bee Keeper villager with interesting trades, as well as a unique House typically constructed with Forestry woods. (If these individual pages exist I apologize for not looking for them very hard - I'm simply commenting that I think these topics need to be more clearly linked from the mods base page.)GreenZombie76 (talk) 06:39, 25 August 2017 (UTC)

You can edit the navboxes here (Forestry) and here (Bees). Some information about the images can be found here, although if you just update the navboxes I can probably just add them myself if you don't want to worry about them. There's not an official convention but an example Villager page can be found here and a Villager house page can be found here. -Xbony2 (talk) 12:49, 25 August 2017 (UTC)
So here is my first stab at the Greenhouse (Forestry). Theres already a Greenhouse page for a different mod so there needs to be a redirection page. I want to add as an example "minimal" constructed greenhouse and to supplement the GUI discussion. Also, Forestry includes those "popout" widgets on the side of its machine GUIs that show things like Climate, and Power. No existing GUI screenshots have them, but for this machine they're rather important.

GreenZombie76 (talk) 11:26, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Took care of Greenhouse disambiguation. You might be interested in {{Cg/Multiblock}} btw, which is an interactive way to display a multiblock (examples on the doc page). -Xbony2 (talk) 11:59, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
Well, I have started making a stab at re-organizing the Forestry content into a way that I can process it. I'd appreciate any feedback on whether this direction seems sane. I also need to find existing pages that deal with this content I don't want to just add to the general mess. GreenZombie76 (talk) 18:03, 26 August 2017 (UTC)

Some kind of TODO List[edit source]

(I'm going to keep updating this list as things are completed.)

  1. Question: The master image list needs to be updated with Forestrys new icons. Using this search ( I cannot find Cocoons, xxx Comb Blocks and some others
  2. Question: Is there a similar list for GUIs? It seems some of the Forestry GUIs are not supported.
  3. Document Beekeepings "difficulty setting" presets
  4. Document Forestrys slash command options
  5. Add pages for Butterfly Caterpillar items.
  6. Add pages for Butterfly Serum items.
  7. Add pages for Butterfly Cocoon items.
  8. Add pages for Bee Larvae items.
  9. Add pages for Tree Pollen items.
  10. Add pages for Cans, Wax Capsules and Refractory Capsules. (done, mostly. Need to add the 'filled' variants)
  11. Re: Caterpillars, Serums, Cocoons, Larvae and Pollen : Will be documented on a single page that wraps them all up as they're just different 'stages' of the same logical thing? I.e. we currently have a single page for each Bee without regard for Princess / Queen or Drone.
  12. Make a page describing Forestry "Research" using the Escritoire including the acceptable "hint" items depending on whether Bees, Trees or Butterflies are being researched and possible outputs. (Do this per research 'class'?)
  13. Document the worldgen including pages for the Apiarists house, Apiarist Villager, Ore (Apatite, Copper, Tin), World Hives, and Cocoons (default to off so maybe not?))

Speaking as someone who barely touched Forestry, for item 10, that would probably be the best thing to do, as we've got pages listing materials in their various forms including dust, ingots, and blocks. If you want to add imageicons for all the related items in the infobox that would definitely work. --SirMoogle (talk) 22:33, 27 August 2017 (UTC)
Aha. Something like the page for Copper. Also - for the Forestry Trees - I was thinking I'd add the block images for the wood variants too - especially the doors. GreenZombie76 (talk) 05:17, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Ok. I have created a fake Infobox using InfoBox DIY on the Talk:Forest Bee Page that I think can serve as a general template for an Infobox on Bee, Tree, and Butterfly pages. Does this look acceptable? And, Will I be able to make Infobox variants for Bee, Tree and Butterfly because cutting and pasting that onto all the butterfly, bee, and tree pages is going to be urgh! Plugins/concepts[edit source]

Are the concepts/plugins actually different mods? They were put into Category:Mods but it isn't entirely clear in their articles or in the section that lists them? If they are not actually distinct mods, should their casing be changed to, for example, Forestry apiculture? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 16:46, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

Oops. No. Didn't mean for that to happen. Forestry is written as a number of internal plugins that can be independently disabled by config so they're not separate mods, but the larger plugins at least describe quite large discreet systems in their own right. This is a bit more of an expansive edit that i've attempted in the past so I'm learning how to use a lot of the templates (and style guides) for the first time really. It might be better if I just simplified the Forestry mod page a bit and rewrote those as guides? My edit spree is fueled in no small part by my annoyance at not finding ANY lets plays, mod showcases or even wiki articles on the official wiki, that cover things like caterpillars, or serums or the greenhouse. And so I am inspired - for the moment - to make the wiki pages I wish I'd found before. Its just that Forestry, when you start poking at it, is just so damned big I'm struggling to make a coherent structure I'm happy with. GreenZombie76 (talk) 18:14, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
Okay, so I'll remove the "mod" stuff from those pages. And for the casing? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 18:21, 28 August 2017 (UTC)
re the casing? I was just going to rename the pages to drop "Forstry" from the front. Not sure why I put that there. GreenZombie76 (talk) 05:02, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
As I posted on Talk:Forestry Lepidopterology:
Why not just do "Forestry/Lepidoterology" like what some of the Thaumcraft 4 pages did (e.g., Thaumcraft 4/Wands, Staves, and Scepters)?
--SirMoogle (talk) 05:08, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
My watchlist settings seem to be setup normally - in fact I get emails - but the red "changes" badge is not showing on the "My Notices" icon so Im having to manually check for changes!? GreenZombie76 (talk) 07:32, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
There isn't really an option for that, even if you click on the preferences button. I mostly get notifications when someone mentions me. --SirMoogle (talk) 14:56, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
I rediscovered the Watchlist link to show me the recent changes to my pages. I don't know why I remembered a badge. GreenZombie76 (talk) 15:35, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
