The Tempering Oven is a machine added by Factory Tech. It is used to craft the Tempered Saw Blade, Tempered Gear, Tempered Cutting Blade and Tempered Drill.

Operation[]
Tempering parts involves heating them to a specific temperature for a specific time. The Tempering Oven is not automatic; it must be activated and deactivated with a Redstone signal. Heating too little will cause the part to be incorrectly tempered, while heating too long will destroy it. The correct tempering time for each part is listed in the Blueprint Collection and on the item's wiki page.
By default, the machine can process:
- Tempered Saw Blade (73 ticks)
- Tempered Gear (66 ticks)
- Tempered Cutting Blade (54 ticks)
- Tempered Drill (89 ticks)
- Tools (116 ticks).
Every component has a default tolerance of 2 ticks, meaning e.g. a Tempered Saw Blade will be successfully crafted after heating for anywhere from 71 to 75 ticks. This gives a range of roughly 1/4 of a second in which to deactivate the redstone signal - while this is possible for manual use, it is generally more effective to construct a redstone mechanism to handle it automatically. In base Factory Tech, this generally means constructing a vanilla redstone latch which turns itself off after enough vanilla redstone repeaters indicate time has passed; other mods can produce more compact systems, such as the Advanced Redstone Repeater from Random Things. Note that the delay configuration on the redstone circuit may not exactly match the amount of ticks that the device is active for - expect to lose a few ingots to early calibration of the device.
