Block Id Param[edit source]

Can the infobox template also have a block id parameter? Obsidian Transport Pipe is trying to use it. --Shadowhand (talk) 04:37, 24 October 2013 (BST)

Consensus was achieved to not include it in the infobox since every pack uses different IDs, it could cause confusion. -- Jinbobo 10:29, 24 October 2013 (BST)
That would explain the missing ids from the wiki. Thanks for the explanation. --Shadowhand (talk) 03:36, 25 October 2013 (BST)
As FTB is now planning to have universal IDs throughout all the packs, should this be reconsidered? -- AgentTadpole · Staff talkcontribs 01:13, 24 December 2013 (GMT)
I would say no, it really isn't that helpful of information, and people use the wiki for non-FTB packs as well. People who don't quite understand the ID system could get confused. SatanicSanta Staff · talk ·contribs 02:19, 24 December 2013 (GMT)

iconimage param[edit source]

The iconimage param is just outputing text. I have changed the following pages before realizing that this param might be still under construction:

please fix this --Shadowhand (talk) 04:01, 25 October 2013 (BST)

totally intended. -- Jinbobo 11:28, 25 October 2013 (BST)
Totally intend to not have an icon? Well, nevermind. Just thought I should bring this up. --Shadowhand (talk) 23:09, 25 October 2013 (BST)
It will get fixed in the future. -- Jinbobo 06:12, 26 October 2013 (BST)

Adding new values for param "type:"[edit source]

The current values cover items, blocks and mobs. With more and more mods adding dimensions (Mystcraft ages, the cobblestone mining dimension) and multiblock structures (Thaumcraft, Railcraft Boilers etc.) these two values are a necessary addition. Alternatively new Infobox templates might be made.

More infoboxes will be made for different specific content, the infobox should only contain general information. The current infobox will most likely be split into multiple smaller infoboxes in the near future. Other infoboxes will be updated with the new style too. If you are confident with your wikitext and template skills, you are free to create the templates, but please do read the Template Guideline and understand the styling and collapse script of infoboxes first. -- 11:00, 24 December 2013 (GMT)

crop/seed[edit source]

Should an IC2 crop count under crop or seed?

I would say seed. --RealSketch •Staff •TalkContributions 17:25, 1 July 2014 (BST)

What's the crop tag for then? The products? Chocohead NagAdditions 17:27, 1 July 2014 (BST)

Seed = actual seed item, crop = plant. For instance, if there was a Wheat Seed page, it'd be using the type Seed, but if there was a Wheat Plant page, it'd be using the type Crop. -- SatanicSantaTalkContribsAdmin 18:13, 1 July 2014 (BST)

Add {{{lastappearance}}}[edit source]

Since putting |firstappearance will show when a thing was first added, can |lastappearance be added for the version before a thing was removed? Chocohead NagAdditions 00:43, 9 August 2014 (BST)

This is mainly so that things that were removed from IC2 can have a removed date on the infobox :) Chocohead NagEditsStaff 22:04, 16 August 2014 (BST)
Adding it now. Didn't see it last week :) -- SatanicSantaTalkContribsAdmin 00:11, 17 August 2014 (BST)
Cool, thanks. Chocohead NagEditsStaff 00:15, 17 August 2014 (BST)

add Composition[edit source]

Many materials, GregTech materials in particular, are composed of other materials. As their tooltips show chemical compositions, perhaps we should have an infobox entry for their chemical compositions? If we ever document MineChem, it could be useful for that too. -PaladinAHOne 19:37, 20 December 2014 (PST)

Adding it, and yes, Wolfman and I have plans to document MineChem. We just aren't sure how we will do it in terms of formatting. -- SatanicSantaFTB Wiki Admin 06:04, 21 December 2014 (UTC)

Stacksize param[edit source]

Would a 'stacksize' param be more useful or explicit than the current 'stackable' param, for stating an object's maximum stack size? PaladinAHOne Staff (talk) 05:32, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Yes. I think we should replace stackable with stacksize. -- SatanicSantaFTB Wiki Admin 06:02, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

New Type: Multipart Component[edit source]

In the age of Forge Multipart, there exist "blocks" or "items" that aren't really full blocks or items; they do not occupy the space of a full block, in some cases they can only be placed on other multipart objects, they can have other Multipart / Microblock pieces placed within the same block space, they can interact with both solid blocks and other components of their own multipart block space, and they aren't all transparent, solid, or TileEntities. To cover these objects, a new Type value is necessary. -PaladinAHOne Staff (talk) 23:06, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

New list params?[edit source]

Advanced Generators introduces a relatively new concept: Freeform multiblock machines. I believe other mods, like the upcoming SteamNSteel, will further the concept. Woud it be possible to add two lists, "Required blocks" and "Optional Blocks"? For example, see Gas Turbine Generator. It would also be great if maximums for each block could be shown.-- ScottKillen [] 16:17, 19 July 2016 (UTC)

Retep998 what is your opinion of this? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 18:14, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
Surely the blocks themselves have their own infobox as with all other blocks, but a multiblock structure should surely be documented in it's own way (tables, images, etc.), rather than an infobox dedicated to it (as it is a multiblock). Developaws (talk) 08:01, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
You are missing the point. Scott is saying that it might be beneficial to add the new parameters he mentioned because this is something that is not specific to a single multiblock, or even a single mod. Of what relevance is the infobox for each block? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 08:05, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
The point is that Infobox is for individual items and blocks. It's not designed for covering multiblock concepts. For that you're better off with templates specialized for multiblocks. There's a reason we have other infobox templates! 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 08:10, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Then why do we have type=multiblock structure in this infobox? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 08:17, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Because we're not perfect? 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 08:19, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
I think it could be useful to have an infobox specifically for multiblock structures. We could include the things that Scott mentioned here, required blocks and optional blocks, as well as the type (modular/dynamic or static/something), mod, etc. -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 08:23, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
The infobox on these multiblock machines (e.g. Gas Turbine Generator) is rather pointless really. I noticed that there are (underused) parameters for upgrades for machines, etc., but, as you can see from the page, 5 sets of upgrades won't be enough here. I'm open to suggestions and would propose that rather than doing nothing, at a minimum, we should perhaps change policy so that not every page must have an infobox--IMHO it detracts from the page in cases like this. -- ScottKillen [] 12:35, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
If the infobox seems pointless, then the solution is to figure out what sort of infobox would work well. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 16:56, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
That is the point, really. None of the existing params apply except for the sparse infobox you see on the page and I cannot add params myself to make it useful. Are there other, more pertinent types of infoboxes? I see other mod specific infoboxes...but the concepts involved in this mod are new to the wiki, as far as I can tell, and none of those apply. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated? Does anyone else feel that the silly little infobox on Gas Turbine Generator adds anything to the page? Or am I making something out of nothing here? -- ScottKillen [] 17:04, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
We have other kinds of infoboxes specialized for other things with their own parameters and such. https://ftb.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=Special%3APrefixIndex&prefix=Infobox&namespace=10 So if you think none of the existing Infoboxes are ideal, then we can design an Infobox that would be ideal. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 17:08, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Yeah, thanks! None of those are appropriate, What we really need is an infobox for multiblock structures. I would be happy to do a preliminary design. What is the most useful way to start? -- ScottKillen [] 17:16, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Mock it up somehow. Tables, paint, handrawn picture that you scan or take a photo of, there are many options you can choose. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 17:23, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Retep998 will this do? -- ScottKillen [] 17:56, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Sure. Now we just get someone who knows Lua to create a module for it. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 18:06, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Sweet! -- ScottKillen [] 18:50, 20 July 2016 (UTC)
Retep998, I figured out how to make the simple infobox I need. No LUA needed... -- ScottKillen [] 18:12, 23 July 2016 (UTC)

Add Repair to the thing[edit source]

`Repair Material` or `Repaired With` should be a thing and/or `Repairable:true/false` because Repair is very important thing --sokratis12GR Staff 07:54, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

+1 on this. Though just "Repair Material", as we can set this to "None" if not repairable, or just not display if not set :D Developaws (talk) 07:59, 20 July 2016 (UTC)

Overhaul Proposal[edit source]

Right now I strongly feel that this infobox is far too big. Not every block/item/entity need something like "Energy Statistics", "DecoCraft cost", et cetera. It might be better to have some new infoboxes that dedicates to them. For example, we could have an infobox for EU energy, for RF energy, or even just a single a generic "energy infobox" in which you could specify the name of unit. Also, the "type" parameter should also be more generic - that said, those three possible values dedicated to Steve's Carts should integrate into {{Infobox Steve's Carts}}. Feel free to discuss below. T3==ThaumicTechTinker, Urey.S.Knowledge Welcome back, commander 17:40, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

I'd be totally okay with having dedicated infoboxes for different mods. Just a matter of someone putting in the effort. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 21:31, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
Yeah I agree. Wikipedia does this quite well, and from what I remember MCW does too. -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 21:50, 21 November 2016 (UTC)
I've sort of been dreaming of a mixins kind of infobox myself.... -Xbony2 (talk) 22:47, 21 November 2016 (UTC)

Calling for templates automatically in parameters and suggested new parameters[edit source]

I was discussing this with Retep998 on Discord/IRC. So for parameters such as {{{armorrating}}} that automatically use templates when called (e.g., {{Armor}}, inputting anything other than an integer gives an expression error. Compare {{{armorrating}}} to {{{ap}}}:

Example lol
Properties
Armor points6 (Armored)
Armor rating6 (Armored) (Armor.svg × Expression error: Unexpected ( operator.)

What's everyone's thoughts on this? I have no problem with manually adding {{Armor}} to the infobox (especially if variants of an item/entity can have different armor values and need to be specified. --SirMoogle (talk) 04:23, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Also, could we have some new parameters for energy usage? Many of them are appended with energy/t but some tools expend a certain amount each use. --SirMoogle (talk) 04:26, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Yeah I'm with you on all this stuff -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 17:17, 12 September 2017 (UTC)

Add a Drops parameter?[edit source]

I think this would be a good parameter to have on mob pages so that readers can just take a quick glance at the infobox without scrolling through the article body to find it. This would just be {{Gc}} icons. --SirMoogle (talk) 05:49, 19 September 2017 (UTC)
