Translating navboxesEdit

You are unfortunately translating Navbox Gregtech incorrectly. To quote myself in PMs to someone else trying to translate them.

So for example {{NI|mod=GT|english}} becomes {{NI|mod=GT|english|3=italiano}} and {{NI|mod=GT|english|moreenglish}} becomes {{NI|mod=GT|english|moreenglish|italiano}} and {{NI|mod=GT|english|moreenglish|wowmore}} becomes {{NI|mod=GT|english|moreenglish|italiano}}.
When you are translating the page normally using the translation extension as you always have been, you will see those NI templates, and you will need to properly translate them. For the NI template the first parameter is the image to display, the second parameter is the page to link to, and the third parameter is the text to be displayed. The third defaults to the second which defaults to the first. You only want to translate the third, so if it only has one parameter, like {{NI|mod=GT|english}}, then by doing |3=italiano you are skipping the second parameter and going straight to the third. With two parameters you just add the third as |italiano and when there's already three you just translate the third.

Did I understand correctly, that my translation is always on the third parameter and, if no second parameter is included, I have to insert: "|3=...." ??? With the new module navbox system, you still should only translate the third parameter to each ni{} block, and if there is no third parameter, then copy paste the second parameter (or the first if there is no second) until there are three parameters, and then you can translate it.🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 09:38, 23 January 2015 (UTC)

Got it, I'll put my translation in third place. But I still have a question: Where can I actually see the module in action ??? Especially to check the "logical sense" of my translation. The module is now live, so you can view the module on any /de GregTech page such as GregTech/de. Also, when you are translating l{} things, only translate the second parameter, and copy paste the first parameter if the second parameter doesn't exist. Language levelsEdit

1) I'm a native German speaker.
2) According to the recent recognition of my high school graduation exam in English, I will own the CEFR level B2 ... but I advise to trust my knowledge. After 6 years without use (or not much), I am currently working hard on my english skills again, but up from the basics.

And I have also the first question: When translating the help pages, my translation of the titles are saved but simultaneously labeled as outdated ? For example "Help: Bots" is in German "Hilfe: Bots", the system save the title, but label it as outdated and shows the message "The namespace differs from that in the translation template" ??? Thus the translations are not 100% complete.
Furthermore I wanted to ask anyway, if I may be allowed to create not existing articles in English ? Or should I contribute text proposals only in the respective discussion page ?

"Worth knowing" sectionEdit

"X in the real world" is probably a better idea. At Project Red I've installed it in the top text, and at MineChem with a own heading. My intention was to connect things in-game with real science, so that the player maybe get enthusiastic about certain things. For example for chemistry or biology in MineChem, or for electronic in Project Red. "X in the real world" would better point to the real counterpart. At which position the section should be in ? I think, the recipe and the usage of the item here is first important, and than this section for those interested ? --LuminousLizard de-native / "en-B2" (talk) 22:26, 20 December 2015 (UTC)

Those gate pages with massive tablesEdit

Is there a reason to duplicate all those massive tables for each gate page, specially since most of them don't apply to that specific gate? 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 13:17, 14 February 2016 (UTC)

At first, I thought about the construction of this part. I had the idea to pack all the normal options (available for all pipes) on the side of the abstract (for example Gate) and only the specific options on the side of the respective gate. But I prefered to have everything for every gate together and not to link from page to page. I personally think it is better for a general page like Gate to summarize all the options available and have a massive table like that. Then on the individual page for each gate it would list only the triggers that apply to that gate specifically. If a person wants to see the information on all the gates without clicking around they can just go to Gate and if they want more information on a specific gate they can go to that specific page without being inundated with a table of information that having nothing to do with that specific gate. As for the more advanced gates, include all the options that are necessary to cover the interdependent behavior, but no more. As it is when I look at the table I don't even know what it is telling me. Like on Light Sensor Iron Gate it doesn't include an explanation next to the table, instead it is buried deep in a paragraph in a previous section. Most of the information in that table is not specific to the Light Sensor Iron Gate at all. Since it is a strict specialization of the Iron Gate it should only really need information on how it functions relative to the Iron Gate.
