Difference between NI and NID?[]

Hi, I was taking a look at the changes you made to the navbox. Can you explain to me when to use NI or NID? I would like to improve my understanding. Crazierinzane (talk) 00:03, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

NID (Navbox item/disambiguation) is essentially shorthand for {{NI|mod=MOD|Item|Item (Mod)|Item}}. Here is a comparison:
You type You get
{{NI|mod=FSP|Crucible|Crucible (Flaxbeard's Steam Power)|Crucible}}
Crucible
{{NID|mod=FSP|Crucible}}
Crucible
{{NID|mod=FSP|Crucible|Flaxbeard's Steam Power}}
Crucible
All of these result in the same thing, it's just that NID is significantly shorter than NI. Basically, you use it when you are linking to a page that has been disambiguated for a mod (eg, you wouldn't use it when linking to, say, Wolfsbane (item)). The second form (3rd row in the table) is just a better performance version; you really should only use this if you are really concerned about the page load time. Does this make sense? -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 00:46, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
That was well explained, thank you! It's a nice shortcut when disambiguation is in place. I'll try to use it appropriately in the future. Crazierinzane (talk) 00:57, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

Move a page[]

I think I need to create a disambiguation page for the next item. I've seen you do this in the changelog, could you please tell me how to move a page to create room for a disambiguation page? And would I just use "What links here" to see what pages I need to update to the new link? Crazierinzane (talk) 05:03, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

First, you move the page. If you do not have the rights needed to move a page, add {{Propose move}} to the top of the page. Then, once moved, you turn the old page into a disambiguation page (e.g., Wooden Barrel), add {{About}} to all the disambiguated pages. Lastly, as you said, you go to the WhatLinksHere and fix all the old links. -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 08:08, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I must have misunderstood how to move the page. I thought it was just copying things over. Crazierinzane (talk) 20:53, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
No worries. To move a page, you hover over the More dropdown next to the search bar. In that dropdown is a button that says Move. -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 20:56, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
It doesn't look like accounts like mine have permission for that unless I'm incredibly blind to this dropdown. http://i.imgur.com/jiqQIwa.png Crazierinzane (talk) 21:27, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
You can add {{Propose move}} and someone who has the rights will then be able to move the page you want. -IndestructiblePharaohVII 21:35, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
I'll do that from now on. Crazierinzane (talk) 21:41, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Moving pages by just copying things over is strongly discouraged as it loses all the history from before the move. Doing a move properly will move all the history with the page. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 20:57, 22 January 2017 (UTC)

tilesheet[]

Do you know what the oredict name for the stone button is? Check my user page if you don't know what I mean. Correct the source if necessary. Thanks -- LordofEditing (talk) 22:44, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

LordofEditing- "Button (Stone)". See Special:TileList if you need help with anything like this again. -Xbony2 (talk) 23:45, 8 March 2017 (UTC)

Oredict tooltip[]

Change it to be "&7"..tag.."/&9"..mod 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 02:36, 19 March 2017 (UTC)

I'm not sure how I'd do this, since the mod isn't actually accessible. I don't actually quite understand how the OreDict lua function works. I looked at the OreDict extension code and it looked like it takes an option "mod" param in the args to the "dict" parser function, but I don't think we actually use that since adding .. args["mod"] resulted in a nil error. Random <nowiki>s[]

I saw one of your edits on a random <nowiki> placement. I've encountered a few of them myself and they seem to occasionally appear when selecting a word in the visual editor and typing over it. This causes the selected word to split and the new one to be typed into it. I'm guessing it's an issue with the visual editor itself, but you should see if any other editors are having this problem. --SirMoogle (talk) 05:23, 9 May 2017 (UTC)

Other editors? There's only two editors, the wikitext one and the visual one :P Hehe, I assume you mean people-editors. Yeah, Visual Editor has been known for its buggy behavior. I'd encourage you to use the regular wikitext editor when possible, pretty much nobody serious about editing uses VE. In a perfect world VE should replace wikitext completely but we don't live in said world. -Xbony2 (talk) 11:22, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
Ha, I was referring to text editors. Oh well, the one on Wikia sites seem to work well... I don't suppose we can get a TemplateInfo extension or something, can we? --SirMoogle (talk) 23:02, 9 May 2017 (UTC)
TemplateData? We actually had that installed for a little while (pretty sure it was when we were pre-Gamepedia, VE was uninstalled and then reinstalled later). It probably wouldn't hurt to install it, although supporting every template with it for such a minority of editors could be bothersome. -Xbony2 (talk) 00:12, 10 May 2017 (UTC)
Oh, also a minor note about Wikia- pretty much everything they use is super-modified and super-custom, it's its own jungle. Also a lot of Gamepedia wikis are Wikia forks, but I probably shouldn't get into all that trivia. -Xbony2 (talk) 00:18, 10 May 2017 (UTC)

Witchery tilesheet[]

xbony2|afk: after you submit an issue, leave a message on my talk page about the witchery tilesheet

Armor and Health large numbers[]

[15:44:05] <FTB-Wiki-Discord> [17:28:48] <SirMoogle> SatanicSanta, is there a way to make it so that {{Health}} (and by extension {{Armor}} displays one heart or armor icon followed by x <number>?

article count growth[]

You might be able to help complete https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gnNWJFBdOkFI2pm3_-k6XUwJwR9d0T6FVlxjBgp_qDk which would be cool and stuff on Monday with help from Gamepedia. -Xbony2 (talk) 20:54, 16 September 2017 (UTC)

Category:Content not intended for Survival play[]

Is Content not intended for Survival play useful as a top-level category? I can't think of anything that would go under it other then Creative-only content; I've never heard of any Adventure-only content or Spectator-only content (not sure how valuable such a category would be). -Xbony2 (talk) 22:02, 2 October 2017 (UTC)

I figured it would be similar to Easter eggs in that it is a special case in which articles should be put into it directly -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 01:19, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
What articles would go in it that wouldn't go under Creative-only content? -Xbony2 (talk) 11:29, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Oh, I misunderstood you. Here is the log for that conversation from 2017 09 21 (with unrelated convos stripped out) (messages with two timestamps are from znc playback):
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:33:29] <SirMoogle> Should we have a "Creative only" category for items that can only be spawned in creative mode or cheats?
[09:58:37] <@PeterRabbit> [11:35:16] ask Santa
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:35:43] <SirMoogle> @SatanicSanta Should we have a "Creative only" category for items that can only be spawned in creative mode or cheats?
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:35:51] <SirMoogle> Eh he'll see it
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:58:53] <ImmortalPharaoh7> @SirMoogle yes
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:59:05] <ImmortalPharaoh7> i can't believe we don't have a category liek that yet 😃
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [11:59:28] <SirMoogle> I'm sure if I petition Xbony he'll do it
[09:58:37] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> [12:00:09] <ImmortalPharaoh7> I'll do it 😛
[10:03:24] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> @SirMoogle I've thought about this a lot, and I think we should. But my one thing is that you can add survival means to obtain anything with minetweaker and shit
[10:09:19] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <ImmortalPharaoh7> well, idk where to add it so....
[10:09:31] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <ImmortalPharaoh7> @SatanicSanta but you can modify everything in the game with minetweaker and stuff
[10:09:39] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <ImmortalPharaoh7> and modify recipes
[10:09:45] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> hm true
[10:10:01] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <ImmortalPharaoh7> we document what the normal untouched version looks like 😛
[10:10:10] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <ImmortalPharaoh7> so... uhm... idk where to put the creative only items
[10:10:49] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> In game content, like the easter eggs category
[10:11:00] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> that's the only place that makes sense
[10:46:05] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> Actually
[10:46:19] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> Game content > Content not meant for survival play > Creative only content
[10:46:28] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SatanicSanta> and then debug stuff can be put into Content not meant for survival pla
[11:24:54] <FTB-Wiki-Discord1> <SirMoogle> Sounds like a plan

SirMoogle want to weigh in? I haven't had caffeine yet today lmao -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 18:44, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

I'd be really careful if you're classifying Easter eggs as "content not intended for survival play" as that logic can extend to decorative blocks that serve no purpose but to look pretty. I'd rather have a category of "Content found in survival play." --SirMoogle (talk) 23:18, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Easter eggs was just an example. This has nothing to do with Easter eggs. I'm not sure what you're saying -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 23:22, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
I don't think "Creative-only content" needs the parent category "Content not meant/intended for survival play." It can be a child category to "Game content." Easter eggs are found in survival mode, so in a way they are intended for survival play. --SirMoogle (talk) 23:25, 3 October 2017 (UTC)

Images for castle doors[]

You've requested images for Pink Castle Door, etc. As described, the blocks turn completely invisible. Is a photo of an empty doorway going to add value?--Xenoflot (talk) 23:08, 20 December 2017 (UTC)

Ah, the way it's written now, it says "invisible and transparent version [my italics]," which to me means that it's semi-transparent but you can still kind of see it. If it is completely invisible, then I would remove "version" and just say that they become invisible. -- SatanicSanta🎅FTB Wiki Admin 22:12, 21 December 2017 (UTC)

Dragon Block C[]

I have integrated what little information there was on dragonblockc.gamepedia onto Dragon Block C in one messy page. Took about 20 minutes. Just another wiki eaten by the beast. (I should probably make the page better; will look into that later) -Xbony2 (talk) 17:29, 22 December 2017 (UTC)
