Vampirism is a mod created by maxanier and contributed to by Cheaterpaul. It is focused around magic with a touch of RPG elements. It allows players to become vampires or vampire hunter. As a vampire players live in the dark, see through the night with permanent night vision, and feed from blood. As a hunter players continue their normal life but skill themselves in fighting vampires and other mobs.

There is a leveling system that involves different rituals or training to unlock new skills for vampires and hunters respectively; for example, as a vampire players canturn into a bat and fly around or use blood vision to find fresh blood through walls. Hunters can craft new weapons like automatic crossbows or learn to hide from mobs.

The strength of Vampirism's mobs is scaled by the level of the players online in the affected area. Furthermore, only vampires attack neutral players, allowing the mod to be fun and fair for all players regardless which level they are or even if they choose to not get involved in Vampirism at all.

If Guide-API is installed, there will be a guide book explaining the most important things. JEI is also very helpful.

Vampirism's documentation book, the Vampirism Guide, displays crafting recipes, creatures, items, blocks, world gen and explains nearly everything about Vampirism in-game.

For modpack creators and server owners[]

Vampirism is highly configurable. Besides the main configuration file, which among others allows disabling certain parts of the mod and several balance configuration files, which allow creators and owners to change the mod to their desire.

There are some creative only items like a sunscreen beacon which can be used to make the spawn area safe for vampire players during the day. An additional mod, Vampirism Integrations, provides improved inter mod compatibility/integration with other mods like MCA[clarify] or Evilcraft.
