Volcano is a biome added by Biomes O' Plenty. There is lava lakes spread across the biome, and occasionally you'll find mountains and lava falls.
All dirt and grass is replaced with Ash Stone, and you can find smoking patches of dark sand - they drop Piles of Ash, which can be crafted into Charcoal.
