The Hungry Chest is a block added by Thaumcraft 4. It has the same function as a Chest, except, when an item is thrown on it (or near it) it will "eat" the item, putting that item into it's inventory, similar to a Hopper. This block is designed specifically for automation.
Unlike a normal Chest, there is no way to make a "double" Hungry Chest.
