The Icy Rod is a wand core component from Thaumcraft 4. It is used to craft either Icy Wands, Icy Staff Cores, or the Staff Core of the Primal. It is able to hold 75 vis of each primal aspect and has an affinity for
, naturally restoring it slowly to 8 points if it ever falls below that amount without the need for tapping Aura Nodes.

Wand cores crafted from ice can store slightly more vis than greatwood cores. What makes it superior to greatwood cores however is that if the level of Aqua stored inside it drops below 10%, its icy nature will slowly replenish it.
