The GregTech 5 Macerator is functionally identical to the IndustrialCraft 2 Macerator: it grinds Ores into Crushed Ores and grinds items into Dusts, however it uses the GregTech tier system. Additionally, the HV-tier Universal Macerator and above have multiple output slots and use the 'Pulverizer' recipe list, allowing many operations to produce by-products.

Like every electric machine in GregTech 5, the Macerator comes in 5 variants, one for each voltage from Low to Insane.
