The Polynesia Charm is a tool added by Witchery. It is used to trade with animals, similarly to Villager trading. Using the charm on an animal will open a trading GUI, and will cost one durability point each time. The charm has 50 durability. This charm is also used to create the Devils Tongue Charm. The item tooltip of this charm states "He talks to the animals..."
Trading with hostile mobs can be done if those mobs are currently not hostile (see trades).
