The Soft Hammer (or Soft Mallet) is a Meta-Tool added by GregTech 5. It is used to craft items, and to turn machines on and off.
Recipe[]
The Soft Hammer can be crafted from Wood, Rubber, Plastic, and similar soft materials. If Thaumcraft 4 is installed, a Soft Hammer may be crafted from Steeleaf Ingots and a Thaumium Rod; this hammer has many times more durability than the others.
Usage[]
The Soft Hammer is an essential tool in GregTech. Right-clicking on any machine with a Soft Hammer will toggle that machine's activity and display a chat message that indicates whether the machine's processing is Enabled or Disabled. If the machine is actively processing items when it is hit, it will continue working until its active process is complete, and then stop. It is useful to stop a machine that has run out of energy, since a machine with insufficient energy will waste energy each time it attempts to restart its process. An alternative to the Soft Hammer for toggling a machine's activity is the Machine Controller cover, which responds to redstone signals instead, and will pause a machine's active process instead of waiting for it to finish.
The Soft Hammer is required to activate all multiblock machines, as indicated in the multiblock's controller when the machine is first assembled. It is also used in the Maintenance Hatch to fix the "Something is stuck" problem.
